SURVIVAL SKILLS FOR A NEW TRAINER Practical tools to equip effective trainers Some individuals become trainers because they’re passionate about sharing their knowledge and about helping people. Others become trainers because their employer asks them to get involved in training or coaching new or existing employees. This course is an introduction to the general principles of learning and development and provides some of the essential skills to better equip those in a new training role. Why attend? • Outline the attributes of a good trainer • Discover techniques to build rapport and connect with those you are training • Learn how to listen (not just hear) and use effective questions to support the learning process • Acquire a toolkit of key training skills, including a list of do’s and don’ts for new trainers • Explore strategies on how to defuse learners who can be challenging • Learn some essential tips and tricks for success • Identify which training skills may require further development. TRAIN ONE-TO-ONE AND SMALL GROUPS Small groups comprise 1-5 people

Given the relevance to a specific industry or job, on-the- job training can be highly effective. If you are required to coach, train or deliver training to others within your organisation, this course will provide the practical tools to help you effectively deliver inductions, new work practices, soft skills or other on-the-job instruction either to individuals or small groups. Why attend? • Explore adult learning principles to identify the most appropriate ways to get your message across • Identify the needs of your learner and deliver information with defined outcomes • Learn how to create engaging skills demonstrations and presentations • Plan effective review processes and discover ways to measure the progress of learners • Develop coaching techniques to support your learners.
