with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WHS Act) A Health and Safety Representative (HSR) needs to be skilled, confident and a good communicator to exchange ideas regarding the risks and controls for incidents in the workplace. This course offers the essential skills and knowledge to fulfil the requirements of the WHS Act and create a safer workplace for all employees, contractors and customers. Why attend? • Understand the current WHS legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR role • Represent the work group members in the WHS risk management processes • Gain skills in the area of hazard identification, risk assessment and control practices and tools • Understand how to conduct workplace inspections and incident investigations • Learn how to issue Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) and direct unsafe work to cease. Who should attend? This course is primarily aimed at personnel within the workplace that have been elected as HSRs. However, managers and supervisors may also participate to gain knowledge of the requirements under the WHS Act and forge a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of their HSR. Persons eligible for the WorkSafe WA HSR Training are HSRs or deputy HSRs elected under the WHS Act. Course details: 5 days 9.00am – 4.30pm Note: Attendance on all 5 days is compulsory. With significant updates to the WHS legislation and changes in the ways workplaces apply it, HSRs will benefit from this refresher course. In addition to reminding participants of the content and intent of the latest WHS Act, they will be exposed to examples of how organisations in various industries have responded. Why attend? • Refresh your knowledge of the existing and the new provisions of the WHS Act • Understand the intent of the WHS Act and how this should translate into the workplace • Review the policies and procedures that must, should and could be in place • Implement your roles and responsibilities as a HSR • Represent members in the WHS risk management process undertaken by the Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) • Explore examples of how other organisations implement WHS practices. Who should attend? This course is targeted specifically at people who have been elected as the HSR for their organisation and who have previously completed the full, 5 day Health and Safety Representatives Training Course. Pre-requisite: You must attend the 5 day Health and Safety Representatives Training Course before commencing this course. Course details: 1 day 9.00am – 4.30pm
